Meade's exotic Ultra High Transmission Coatings deliver more light through the optical system than plain Magnesium Fluoride coatings. These high-performance coatings were once optionally available at a premium price, and now come standard.

The combination of UHTC and Maksutov Cassegrain optics yields pin-point star images with excellent contrast. Unlike inexpensive fast focal ratio telescopes, you never have to worry about collimating the ETX to get optimum performance.
